Training and Education
The following training courses are required by the IACUC:
FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL (ONCE):
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)** - a refresher course will be required every three years.
- DLAR Species Specific Training
- DLAR Rodent Surgery Training – for all staff performing rodent survival surgery
- OEHS: AniCon Questionnaire
- OEHS: OSHA Laboratory Standard Training*
*If your work does not include the handling or manipulation of hazardous chemicals/materials, please contact OEHS (577-1200) for an exemption.
FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL ANNUALLY, if applicable:
- OEHS: Hazardous Waste and Emergency Procedures Training
- OEHS: Biosafety Training
- OEHS: Radiation Generating Machine Safety Training
- OEHS: Basic Radiation/Radioisotope Safety Training

- Simple step-by-step instruction sheet.
- Detailed guide that walks you through the set-up and navigation of the CITI website.
Informal instruction to investigators and their staff on completing forms and related issues pertinent to IACUC business can be provided by the Manager of the IACUC office (Dorinda Monson, (313) 577-0967 or dorinda.monson@wayne.edu) during normal University business hours. Formal instruction sessions for investigators and their research staff are held as needed.
